Life in Maricopa, AZ has many different sides to it. From growing the community and expanding the housing market to quiet small town feeling and the people are amazing.
What is Life Like in Maricopa, AZ?
People often get discouraged to move out here to Maricopa, AZ. They feel it is to far away from Phoenix. Yes, Maricopa is a bit out of the Phoenix area but it is not as far as everyone thinks and says. The City of Maricopa is technically only 12 miles from the I-10 which is roughly 10 minutes from Phoenix total. This is really not that far when you think about it. Plus it is nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of the Phoenix area, if you ask me.
Maricopa is a growing city. Everyday there seems to be new ground being broken for something new to be built. The people who live here are always ready for the change because it just means more resources for us to benefit from. Yes, sometimes the construction part of the projects irritate those of us who live here but in the ling run we know the reason behind the construction. JI mean let's be honest when the overpass was being constructed things felt semi chaotic but once it was done things went back to normal.
Since the overpass was completed Maricopa has more companies willing to come out here which is great for the moral of Maricopa. We have new construction happening all over the place. New restaurants, shops and so much more. I feel this is great that way the people who live here do not have run into Phoenix.
I feel Maricopa is a very easy place to live. I have lived in my house out here since 2010. In Maricopa you get a little bit of everything. You have life on John Wayne Pkwy which seems to always be busy and then there is the land areas that are very quiet and subdued and then there is the middle (where I live) that is quiet but not to quiet. This city has so many different faces to it no wondering it is growing at the speed it is.
On the main road through Maricopa you can find pretty much everything you need for supplies and groceries except for Walmart. This is where the majority of Maricopa's restaurants are located, you can find Fry's and a lot of the service centers like Brake's Plus and Discount Tire. Walmart is located on the Maricopa Casa Grande freeway which is another very busy road as it is the easiest way to get to Casa Grande from Maricopa.
The middle of Maricopa is composed of a few different areas. I like to think of these areas as the heart of Maricopa. It is the different subdivisions Maricopa has to offer. There is roughly 18 different subdivisions within Maricopa and a few of them are homes to the schools Maricopa has. I love the fact that none of the Maricopa Unified School District schools are on the main road in and out of Maricopa. All of the schools are located within communities. Butterfield is in the Villages, Santa Rosa and Pima Butte are in Rancho and Maricopa Elementary, Maricopa Wells and Maricopa High are all in Maricopa Meadows. No school is found on the 347/John Wayne PKWY. I like this aspect because I feel the kids are safer to walk to and from school with no large roads to cross. I know once they get to high school they have the overpass to cross if they walk but we do have a great bus system as well. The schools are great at keeping families informed about what is going on in Maricopa and within the school district.
If you keep taking the 347 past the casino you will hit the land options Maricopa offers. This is great for people who want larger plots for their homes. This area is most definitely the quietest part of all of Maricopa. It would have to be it is very secluded and the houses are far apart in throughout most of this area. The land offers more opportunities for those with horses and more.
Also, in the heart of Maricopa there are many different places to keep kids and adults active. We have places like Copper Sky which offers a lot of indoor and outdoor activities and is home to the community pool and waterslide. Copper Sky also hosts a lot fo the community events and sporting events for both the school and recreational use. Maricopa has UltraStar which houses our movie theater, bowling alley and arcade. UltraStar also has options for dining and is attached to the AkChin Harris Casino. A beautiful casino for a weekend staycation or family coming to visit to enjoy. We also have Pacana Park that is beautiful and open to the public as well. Both Pacana and Copper Sky have lakes that you can fish in both of which have a limit of what you can take home and is stocked regularly. This makes a morning of fishing easy!
Maricopa, AZ may be 15 to 20 minutes away from Phoenix and Chandler but it has a lot to offer and a lot more to grow. The community is full of all generations we have Province which is a 55+ community, we have families of all shapes and sizes and the overall moral of Maricopa is that of a small town. People here are friendly, caring and easy to be around. I won't lie there are times where things can be frustrating in certain parking lots and things like that but that is just life in general. All in all Maricopa is a great city to live in and an even better community.
